Someone Like Me Art Competition

Comhghairdeas Lilly a bhuaigh Gradam Liatroma sa Chomórtas ealaíona “Duine Cosúil Liomsa”. Congratulations to our talented student Lilly Maye, Rang 5, Leitrim’s County winner for the National “Someone Like Me”competition, as announced in the Leitrim Observer last week. The competition has been designed to be a national celebration of the things that unite children of all abilities and, over its six-year history, more than 8,000 children have taken part, creating a tangible contribution to developing more positive attitudes towards persons with disabilities.

Lilly’s art piece was chosen from 1,800 entries. There are 40 winners nationally and Lilly is one of them. Maith thú féin Lilly!

The organisers were particularly impressed with all the entries from our school and we hope you will all join in celebrating with Lilly at the online awards ceremony on February. Maith thú Lilly! Táimid iontach bródúil asat!

Ar ais sa Leabharlann

Chaith muid dhá Luain deireanach den mhí sa Leabharlann. Míle Buíochas Martina as ucht an cuireadh a thabhairt dúinn. Thank you Martina for letting us be your special guests in the Library for the last two Monday’s in January. We have been inspired to read lots more books thanks to our time in the beautiful, peaceful, newly refurbished Library. It is gorgeous. Táimid ag tnúth le cuairt eile go luath.

Snámh

We are delighted to be back swimming this year. The Parents Association have generously agreed to subsidise the cost per pupil. This is a hugely welcome donation and has reduced the total cost of seven weeks to €40.00 per child.

Tennis

Manorhamilton Tennis Club have invited all our students to join them for five weeks training every Thursday. All classes are thrilled to have been given this opportunity. The tennis club will provide all the resources for the term. Míle Buíochas Club Leadóige Chluainín.

Incredible Edibles

The school is entered in Agri Aware’s Incredible Edibles Programme. Incredible Edibles is a healthy eating initiative for Primary School pupils. It encourages schools across the country to get busy growing carrots, lettuce, potatoes, strawberries, turnips and herbs. Schools are supplied with grow packs containing everything they need to grow a veritable feast of healthy foods! We will be participating in a number of tasks over the coming months. We are delighted to be part of this programme.

Parents Association

We ask all parents to please support our Parents Association by joining the zoom meeting tomorrow evening February 1st. The link has been forwarded to all parents.

With the upcoming new school building we will need as much parental support as possible in the next few years. Now is the time to get a committed group of interested parents together to market our school and promote it in a positive way. This is the start of a new era for our school. Let’s make it together. Is fiú agus is féidir.
