Roald Dahl Day 13/9/2021
On Monday 13th September we celebrated Roald Dahl Day. As a much-loved author whose books leave a magical imprint on all who read, it was only fitting that we created some buzz in memorial! Cue a competition! Rang 5 and Rang 6 were asked to create their very own Deoch Draíochta (Marvellous Medicine) All competitors received a ‘Ticéad Óir’ (Golden Ticket) for a Prize Draw. Comhghairdeachas to all who took part, we really enjoyed the entries and well done to the winners!
Laya Super Troopers Health Homework
Gaelscoil Chluainín have registered to take part in this year’s Laya Super Troopers Health Homework Programme. Each Laya Super Trooper kid gets a wall chart, including surprise ‘scratch and reveal’ panels. Then, every week for 10 weeks, they’re encouraged to reveal a new fun challenge and complete it at home with their families.
The Toy Theatre Project
The Pop Up Niland Collection project The Toy Theatre has been developed by The Model and funded through The Community Foundation for Ireland. The Toy Theatre project is a tool for creative learning. It has been inspired
by the watercolour painting The Toy Theatre (1910), one of Jack B. Yeats many works in The Niland Collection, and one
which captures the spirit of creativity and imagination that is at the heart of our programme for primary schools. Over the coming weeks, Rang 2- 6 will be completing workshops as we delve into this intriguing project.
Mo Stair Phearsanta
Rang 5 and Rang 6 have begun their Personal History Projects and they are really beginning to take shape already. Working as a historian involves collecting evidence from the past and the children have brought in an amazing array of beautiful photographs of themselves as babies and growing up through the years, of special occasions like First Holy Communion etc and birthday celebrations. Buíochas mór to our tuismitheoirí for helping the children to fish these out! Central to their projects is to present their evidence in chronological order. Maith sibh a Pháistí!
